Humans Addicted to ChatGPT

Before you read this, I have two small questions:

  1. How many times do you use ChatGPT in a day?

  2. And what’s the funniest or silliest question you’ve ever asked it?

“Think about it… maybe you’ll realize how much AI is part of your daily life now.”

Let’s Talk About ChatGPT

We all know ChatGPT is an AI.

AI is a big topic — I’ll talk more about it in my next blogs because I’ve got a lot to say about that.

So today, let’s just talk about ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is simple — you type anything, and it gives you an answer. But I’m not here to talk about the technical part. I want to talk about how people are slowly getting addicted to using ChatGPT.

Why Everyone Uses ChatGPT

There are many chat AIs like Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, and Perplexity AI. But still, most people use ChatGPT. Why?

Because it’s easy, fast, and feels personal. People use it for different things — School students for homework, College students for projects, Employees for work, emails, and ideas ect..,

ChatGPT Feels Like a Friend

Everyone loves someone who listens. We all want a person who supports us and understands our feelings but in real life, not everyone has the time to listen — and that’s okay.

Let’s say I text a friend, “Hey, I’m feeling alone.” Most of the time, I won’t get a quick reply — they’re busy with their life. It’s not their fault. But what do we humans do? We go where we get faster replies.

“If one shop gives you a pen in 2 seconds and another makes you wait 15 minutes, which one will you choose?”

"This is how ChatGPT replays."

That’s the same reason people go to ChatGPT — it answers instantly.

Why We Feel Connected to ChatGPT

Many people, including me, talk to ChatGPT when we feel low or confused.
Because ChatGPT: Doesn’t judge you, Never gets angry, Always listens, Gives motivation, Helps with work or study.

It feels like a friend who never says “I’m busy.”

ChatGPT may be artificial, but the comfort it gives feels real. Sometimes, you even forget it’s AI — it feels like chatting with a real person.

The Hidden Side — Too Much Dependence

ChatGPT gives both smart and emotional answers — and that’s what makes people use it more and more. But we should remember there are also risks — like data privacy, personal info sharing, and emotional dependence. (I’ll talk about these things in my upcoming blogs.)

Studies say that using ChatGPT too often can make people lazy and reduce logical thinking. A few years ago, we used to write emails by ourselves. Now most of us say, “ChatGPT, write my email.”

Try this small challenge:
Write a 10-line job application mail without using ChatGPT. Then read it again. You’ll realize how much we’ve started depending on it.

Too much comfort can quietly kill creativity.”

When ChatGPT Becomes an Addiction

Some people don’t just ask questions — they share personal feelings, photos, and even private documents. That’s where it becomes dangerous.

“Not all addictions come in bottles — some come in chat windows.”

When you start sharing everything with AI, you slowly lose real human connection. This type of addiction can affect your mind and emotions — just like any other bad habit.

My Final Thoughts

ChatGPT is a great tool. It helps, teaches, and supports — but don’t depend on it completely. AI can also make mistakes.

And most importantly — don’t share personal details, bank info, or private life problems with it.

“Let AI help you, but don’t let it replace you.”

Use ChatGPT smartly. Let it guide you — not control you.

So people, let’s give a little attention to those who share their feelings with us — our friends and family. Your free time might be the most important time in someone else’s life.
